Hey, hey!! I am actually going to do my first post on actual DESIGN...and not just on ME ;)) Who is EXCITED??!?!
So...since I am fairly new I will try to do at least two blog posts a week...hopefully more if I have time. I am pretty much trying to juggle two jobs right now. I work with the lovely and talented Mrs. Rachel Halvorson who I am sure you all know from her blog Nest Egg...or from her recent cover of Garden and Gun...
AND...I am working with my own clients...so things are needless to say...CRAZY in my life right now! But if you know me...you know I LOVE it ;))
I have really been drawn to a pretty DRAMATIC color lately...which isn't USUALLY like me...but I have just really enjoyed...
Take a look at what I mean...
How great is this master bedroom?!?!?! That dark wall is just great with the picture grouping! And of course I am going to like this room because it has my ALL TIME favorite chair in it...the vintage Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair...which you can find on one of my FAV websites...HIVE
I also think this is an amazing, dark master bedroom. It is the the creative director of J. Crew...Jenna Lyons. I love the stark, white bedding contrasted in this room...it is GREAT! She also went so far as to paint her NURSERY black...and it turned out FANtabulous!!
I don't think the child's name in funky letters will EVER get old...do YOU???? I mean...I did it in my nephew's room...as seen in my very first blog post!
Who would have thought you could paint your walls black and still create a very WARM space?!?! But this study nook does EXACTLY that with the warm colored wood desk and floors and one of my very favorite things right now...GRASS SHADES!!! I just LOVEST them!!!
Who loves the black cat in the doorway?!?!? LOL!!! How appropriate!! I also love the green plants in the window...the little POP of green just makes SUCH a difference in this room. This is clean and fresh meets dark and dramatic!!! And the black wallpaper...PERFECTION! You can see it again here...
It just goes to show that Gwyneth Paltrow sure does have some good taste!!! I mean...who doesn't like the WONDERFUL Kelly Wearstler???? This black imperial trellis wallpaper is just SUPERB!!!
OK...so this isn't "black"...but it IS dark and dramatic and I just LOVE this dining room. It is warm, comfortable, vintage and stylish! AMAZING!!! Here again we see that POP of green against the dark walls with contrasting white table skirt. I also think the gray hint to the wood on the chairs gives them a very "worn in" look that makes the room VERY inviting!
Now...this may be slightly traditional for me...but when something is done RIGHT...it is ALWAYS good!!! I love the pairing of the dark walls with the warm Choate Dining Table from Hickory Chair and contrasting the space with the white chairs in the aqua damask and the light, colorful piece of artwork. This room has great BALANCE!!
Here again...not my favorite style personally...but it was finished B-E-A-U-tifully!!!! I love the old world feel you get with this space. The old books, the roughed up chairs...the ANTLERS!!! Did everyone notice them on the bookcases??? OH YEAH!! You KNOW that is right up my alley ;)))
SOOOO...what do we think??? Black back on some radars??? While it might not be everyone's FIRST choice (or even a choice in the running)...you can see here that when done right...can be made into one LOVELY space!!!
Who is glad tomorrow is FRIDAY?!?!?!? WOOOO HOOOO!!!!
